International Students
Admission procedures for international students are the same as those
for applicants from the United States, with the exception of two additional requirements.
Because instruction is given in English, prospective students with a native language other
than English are required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. The Test of
English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), administered by the Educational Testing Service,
will be made part of the applicants file.
International students are also
reminded that in order to obtain their Certificate of Eligibility, Form I-20, they must
provide the financial aid office with a valid affidavit of support, from either personal
funds, family funds, or funds from another source (type/source specified). To comply with
this request, we ask that the applicant complete the College Board International Student
Certification of Finances. This form is available through the admissions office.

What materials must international applicants submit?
Admissions policies and procedures are the same as for regular
first-year applicants, with a few exceptions:
- International students should complete the International Student Supplement,
downloadable here or available from the Admissions Office;
- Students whose first language is not English must submit official results of
the Test of English as a Foreign Language by the application deadlines;
- If you are proficient in English and find it impossible to take the TOEFL,
you must submit one or more of the following: The English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT), The
Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) and recommendations from teachers who taught
you English who can comment on your ability to speak and write;
- An official transcript of academic work in the language in which it was
prepared and a certified translation into English of the transcript.
Does WCCC offer financial aid to international students?
International students can be considered for WCCC funds, although international
applicants should be advised that competition for funding is intense and funding is limited.
How do international students apply for financial aid?
International Students can apply for financial aid by completing the following:
- Canadian citizens complete
the Financial Aid PROFILE of the College Scholarship
Service (available from your college advisor
or online at
www.collegeboard.com/profile);
- Other international students complete the CSS Foreign Student Financial
Aid Application. The applicant and parent(s) together should complete the statements promptly
and file them with the appropriate processor by the required deadline;
- Financial aid applications must be completed by February 15 for Regular
Decision, November 15 for Early Decision I and January 1 for Early Decision II.
Communicating with WCCC
We encourage students to use a facsimile machine when possible in requesting
applications and information about WCCC. (The Admissions Office fax number is 207-454-1092).
We can respond via fax, although we can not send entire applications through the fax.
Therefore, applications must be requested no later than December 15.
