WCCC Library and Library Services

Library Info :: Resources :: Services

The Washington County Community College Library provides accurate information services to students, faculty, staff and community members. Graduate professional librarians and trained support staff select, classify, organize, store and interpret materials. The library purchases reflect a variety of points of view and a range of print and non-print materials, such as, but not limited to, periodicals, books, electronic databases, software, maps, videos and audiocassettes. The professional staff helps library patrons to research, interpret and use information by offering group and individual information literacy programs. The library staff works closely with faculty to support curriculum needs and to provide a welcoming and respectful atmosphere where all library users can receive professional services.

Circulation Policy
Library materials are loaned to faculty, staff, matriculated, non-matriculated students and community members. Books and periodicals (the most recent issues do not circulate) are loaned for a period of three weeks. Renewals are allowed for a second three-week period. Fines for overdue items are $.10 per day. When materials are lost or not returned within one month of due date, patrons are charged the replacement cost or $50–$100 per item. There is also a replacement-processing fee of $5 per item.

Reserve Books
Reserve books, pamphlets and videos are available at the circulation desk. Reserve items are usually for library or classroom use only. Some items are available for overnight or limited loan periods. The fine for overdue reserve items is $.25 per hour per item.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Patrons may request materials through the Library’s Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service. Up to 5 items may be borrowed at one time. Loan periods, renewals and fines are charged according to the rules of the lending library.

Borrowing privileges, grades and transcripts will be withheld if borrowed items are not returned and fines are not paid.

All computers are connected to laser printers.
